Step-by-step answers
The mindful pause does not appear when I open an app
- Open Take Your Time and go to Settings.
- Make sure “Pause with yourself for a moment” is on.
- Check that the app or category is selected. Both individual apps and whole categories are supported.
- Close the selected app from the app switcher, then open it again.
- If you just installed the app or granted Screen Time access, restart your iPhone once.
I cannot select apps or categories
Take Your Time needs Apple Screen Time permission to show the pause. Check that access is still allowed in Settings › Screen Time, then return to Take Your Time and select the apps again.
I tap “Breathe before entering” but no invitation appears
- Allow notifications in Settings › Notifications › Take Your Time.
- If you use a Focus such as Sleep, Work, or Personal, add Take Your Time under Settings › Focus › Allowed Apps.
- Return to the Home Screen, open the selected app, and tap “Breathe before entering” again.
How should I set up Focus modes?
A Focus may hold back the invitation even though Take Your Time uses time-sensitive notifications. Add the app to the allowed list for each Focus you use.
The selected time ends differently than expected
Some behavior depends on iOS Screen Time. Return to Take Your Time and check the time you selected. If the issue repeats, restart the device and email us the iPhone model, iOS version, and steps that reproduce it.
I want to pause or stop using Take Your Time
Turn off “Pause with yourself for a moment” in the app's Settings tab. To revoke access, go to Settings › Screen Time. Deleting the app removes Take Your Time data from the device.
